The one-line credit
“Music by Purrple Cat (purrplecat.com), licensed under CC BY 4.0: creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/” Copy it exactly or use your own wording, as long as it names Purrple Cat and links to the licence.
Where to put it
Put the credit where people can actually read it: the in-game credits screen, your store page (Steam, itch.io, app stores), your website, and the description of any video or stream that uses the music. In a livestream, a panel or a pinned chat message is enough.
Name the tracks
If you can, add the track titles: “Sands of Time” by Purrple Cat. It helps players find the music, and the Soundtrack Builder generates this for you.
If you edited the music
If you trimmed, faded or looped a track, add “edited” or “adapted” after the title. You do not need to say how.
If credit will not fit
Some places, like a short video overlay, have no room. Put the full credit in the nearest description instead and link to it.
Not legal advice
This page is a plain-language guide, not legal advice. The licence itself is at creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/.
Quick answers
Do I need to ask permission?
No. The licence already gives permission as long as you credit the music.
Does the credit have to be large?
No, but it must be reasonable and findable. A line in your credits and in your store description is normal.
Try it
Open the Soundtrack Builder and give each scene a track, or browse the zones on the map.
